The Quarterback’s Very Honest Dog

The team’s star quarterback, Jimmy, was having a rough season, but he claimed his golden retriever, Buddy, was his biggest and smartest fan. One afternoon, Jimmy invited the head coach over to watch some game film and show off the dog’s skills.

"Watch this, Coach," Jimmy said. He put on a clip of himself throwing a beautiful forty-yard touchdown. Buddy immediately started wagging his tail, barking happily, and doing a little victory dance.

The coach was impressed. "That’s amazing! What does he do when you throw an interception?"

Jimmy sighed and played a clip of a picked-off pass. Buddy immediately tucked his tail between his legs, let out a mournful howl, and hid under the sofa.

"I’ve never seen anything like it," the coach whispered. "He really understands the game! What does he do if you guys actually win a playoff game?"

Jimmy looked at the coach, then looked at the dog, and finally shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea, Coach. I’ve only had him for seven years."
