Devoted Fan at the Super Bowl
It was the day of the Super Bowl, and the stadium was packed to the rafters. A man named Gary managed to snag a front-row seat right on the fifty-yard line. As he sat down, he noticed the seat next to him was completely empty.
During a timeout, Gary leaned over to the man on the other side of the empty chair and asked, "I can’t believe it. Who would have a seat like this for the biggest game of the year and not show up?"
The man looked over sadly and replied, "Well, actually, that seat belongs to me. It was for my wife. We’ve come to every Super Bowl together since we were married in 1990, but she recently passed away."
Gary felt a wave of sympathy. "Oh, I’m so incredibly sorry to hear that. That’s very touching. But still, couldn't you find a friend or a relative, or even a neighbor to take the ticket and come with you?"
The man shook his head and sighed. "No, they're all at the funeral."
