Chloe sat at the bistro, checking her reflection in a spoon. Her Hinge match, Derek, had described himself as a "high-octane thrill-seeker who loves living life on the edge." She expected a guy who skied black diamonds or maybe owned a motorcycle. When Derek finally walked in, he was wearing a full neon tracksuit and carrying a massive, professional-grade leaf blower.

"Sorry I'm late," he panted, setting the machine on the velvet chair next to him. "The wind resistance was brutal on the way over."

Chloe stared at the industrial tool. "Derek, why do you have a leaf blower at a French restaurant?"

He looked at her with genuine intensity. "You said in your profile that you wanted someone who could blow you away on the first date. I don't believe in metaphors, Chloe. I believe in results."

The waiter approached, looking horrified, but Derek was already plugging the machine into a nearby outlet used for vacuuming. Before Chloe could protest, he flipped the switch. A gale-force wind ripped through the dining room, sending menus flying like startled birds and instantly transforming Chloe’s perfectly curled hair into a horizontal nest of tangles.

As the manager ran over screaming, Derek leaned in close to shout over the roar of the engine. "So," he yelled, "are you feeling the spark, or should I kick it up to turbo mode?"
